von mmair am 20.01.2009 12:23Hi Geoff, no problem.
Vitamin D (cholecalciferol) or D3 is not found in it's useable form in any food source. Vitamin D is produced in the skin through exposure to UV-B radiation (Sunlight). Rarely today does anyone in civilized regions suffer from a deficiency of Vitamin D (Ricketts). Most Milk products und many cereals and grains are fortified with Vitamin D. Other sources include Oils, especially fishoils from herring, salomon, cod, mackerl, and tuna. liver and eggs are other sources. most important is however sunlight, unless you are extremly dark skinned and never go outside, most people get enough sunlight exposure to produce sufficent Vitamin D. several minutes a day is enough, even through light clothing can the UV penetrate to the skin.

Having Lupus wouldn't be so annoying if it weren't for the advice of other people.

von geoff am 22.01.2009 12:27Danke Monique,
I feel guilty replying in this forum with englisch... I am trying with mein Deutsch... but writing... es ist schwer (?)
Maybe you could translate this for me for others in Deutschland, but I have heard that too many vitamin D supplements could be toxic, especially if other medications are taken at the same time. A few girls/ladies have mentioned to me their Calcium problems also. That's why I was interested in the diet. I understand medical advice should be taken with all lupus issues.
Thanks again Monique and best wishes to all @ lupus live DE.
LG - Geoff.

"Ich hab mitbekommen, das zuviel Vitamin D (Tabletten) kann toxische wirkung haben, besonderes wenn kombiniert mit andere Medikamenten. Ein paar Damen/Mädels haben mir erzahlt das die auch probleme mit Calzium haben. Deswegen bin ich intressiert an die erfahrungen andere Leute und Diät bezüglich Vitamin D. Selbstverständlich soll Medizinischeberatung in aller "Lupus angelegenheit" satt finden."
Blah! ok getan.
