Hi Geoff!

I'm new here and I landed in this forum for the same exact reason you stated in your post - the lupus awareness is pretty much zero in the islands of New Zealand.

I have not been diagnosed yet but have an appointment with the rheumatologist next month. I have markers in my blood for lupus though. I don't have any problems with sunlight but stress really gets to me.

Cycling through the US must have been amazing! I have been up and down the east coast of Aussie so I may have been to your place also

I for my part would love to be part of the pack!!! However, I do see a problem when it comes to financing this trip. Still, one should never give up dreaming, winning in a lottery, etc.

Bad thing is we cannot really take the bike or swim all the way downunder...

That is a very good Idea.
A Flight to Sydney for 1200 € a Offer from Malaysia Airways is not to expensive to Travelling around the half World.
Australia is a destination that isn,t going out of my Head.
The only Thing what i need is enough Time.
I look what i can do.
Were do you live in Australia Thomas?
I give you a Tip, when you come to Germany take a Flight in the Month of July or August the Weather here is f.....

I think, Lupus is best known in America. You should have a look at we-no-nah´s profil in this forum. There is a lupus-walk and many other things to make lupus known by people.
Before i´ve found this forum, i didn´t know any other "lupis" in germany. I was very lonely. my lupus started first with sun, but it was unknown, what it is in my face. Six years later i had the next attack in my loung an pleura because of strongest stress. Today my wolf is sleeping, sometimes he is teasing me a little bit, but not to much.

Also ich würde Australien sehr gerne sehen aber der Flug ist einfach zu lange ...

Sorry for this in engish...

I was not really serious about Australia to meet - it was wishful thinking!

Many of us down here feel isolated because so many people in Europe or Amerika know what lupus is.

We only have 21 milllion people in Australia which is almost the size of Amerika, but nobody knows about lupus.

That is why I like to contact people from all around the world, and in Deutschland, because you understand.

We are now very careful about the sun, also because of skin cancer.

My lupus is started with stress more than the sun. But when I rode the bicycle around Amerika, I began riding at 4 uhr morgens and finished at mittag.

but what about the sun in Australia? It is not good for us Lupis, right? So we can not finance it with our hands work. (I hope it is understandable.)
